I have been around firearms most of my adult life. I joined the US Army (airborne infantry) at age 19. I was the Drill Sergeant and go to guy for those privates who could not successfully group, zero and qualify with their M16A2 rifles. Additionally I attended and graduated from Pikes Peak Law Enforcement Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1998 (I scored a 99 out of 100 on the police pistol qualification course). Lastly, I am also a combat veteran with 3 deployments under my belt. With 22 years of federal active service as well as 11 years as an Army JROTC air rifle marksman trainer. I thought I was a very good shooter. My first day on this 2 day course was a humbling experience (but in a good way). I got out there and successfully went through the basic drills that were given and probably had about an 85 percent hit rate on the standard Valor Ridge target (the circle center mass and facial triangular areas). That was disappointing. However, the REAL disappointment was at the end of this first training day we engaged the 50 yard steel target and it took me 4 rounds to hit it! The second day was were it all came together. Reids instruction, along with the professional help of his staff, Ken and Tyler was top notch! This was the day that we re-enforced the fundamentals and pushed ourselves into a standard time sequence to engage our targets with needed pressure to give us a clear idea of how important it is to be not only accurate but fast. At the end of the day and this course my skills improved greatly. The pace and tempo that we did was perfect as well. Reids class room lectures were relevant and informative. If I could five this course a 5+ star rating I would. Reid is truly a talented, gifted and experienced instructor. My appreciation for great Americans like him and his staff really blessed me with their passion and knowledge of their service in this course. Its my opinion that ALL who carry a concealed firearm should attend THIS course! I will be taking my wife and kids to this course in the future and will recommend those that I love who are like minded (sheepdogs) CCDW carriers as well. Every penny was worth this course!!!

Just completed the Home Defense course last week. 2 days of Pistol Craft I and 2 days of Home Defense. Took it with my 16 year old son. The instruction is far superior to anyone out there. Simple, repeatable and is a layered system which builds upon itself safely. Safety is an integral part of the curriculum not only there on the range but also everywhere you go. The lessons are taught not for hitting paper but for everyday life. My 16 year old started with very little experience and went through the training and was hitting better than I would have imagined. Reid is an amazing down to earth instructor who breaks everything down to manageable lessons. Ken, Tyler and Dylan are huge assets in delivering positive reinforcement while still giving us the critique we need to be better. I've taken a few course at the ridge and I plan to take more. The instruction is excellent and the message and history is spot on for what our youth need in the future. If you own a gun...you should take a lesson there and really understand how to protect yourself properly.

Great teaching no matter what your skill level! My wife and I attended Rifleman I and Valor Ridge does not disappoint. Reid and Tyler give great instruction in a low key, low stress and very safe manner. Emphasis on marksmanship was the rule at all times, not making a big pile of brass. After a safety briefing in the morning we proceeded to the range and zeroed rifles. We then moved to verify zeros at 200 and 300 yards. All students made their hits and this was before lunch on the first day. Valor Ridge gives you the tools and knowledge to engage threats from 0-300 yards while using your rifle from various positions. They give you the knowledge and it is up to you to practice and refine your skill set. You will not find someone more passionate about teaching people how to properly and safely use their firearms than Reid! My wife and I will be returning.

My wife and I took the Home Defense Pistol Immersion course, which is a combination of Pistol Craft 1 and Home Defense: Pistol) and we will both tell you that it was a great class that worked on fundamentals and then expanded on them. You never feel overwhelmed with instruction, but always feel like youre making improvements. The instructors and atmosphere are great, possessing a very high degree of knowledge and the ability to impart that knowledge onto the students, while also making the student feel confident in their abilities. This is my second class session with Valor Ridge (I perviously took Pistol Craft I and Austere Conditions) and I can wholeheartedly recommend Valor Ridge and offer my returning there as evidence of their quality training. If you are even remotely serious about self defense with a firearm, sign up for a class. You wont regret it.

I took the two-day Rifle 1 class and loved it. The students in the class ranged from some experienced folks to complete novices, and by the end of the class everyone was able to consistently hit targets out to 300 yardsseveral using iron sights.Safe gun handling is emphasized from the minute the class starts and all through the class. I never once felt unsafe. There is a major emphasis on fundamentals right out of the gate and the cadre patiently work with you on these while getting a proper zero on your rifle, and all throughout the class. Get the fundamentals right and you will hit your target is a consistent message. A true message by the way.The class doesnt just teach you how to shoot a rifle, but also when you can, and should/should not, use a firearm for self-defense. The instructors at Valor Ridge are professional and I believe are very passionate about teaching the subject and that passion comes through during the class.I have been shooting for many years and have taken several pistol classes in the past, but this is my first rifle class, and my first class at Valor Ridge. If you think that because you have been shooting for years and are a pretty good shot with a rifle that you dont have a lot to learn from a class like this, then I think you would be surprised to find out how much there is still to learnask me how I know. The bottom line is that I will be going back and will try to get people I care about to get training at Valor Ridge too so that they can properly defend themselves and their families if they ever have the need. I cant think of a better recommendation than that.
