Only go there since I live in a small town...seems like they are always out of everything I need or they stop carrying what I like. Company has gone down hill in the last 15 years

I hope that you will take the time to read this review. This store is one of the most despicable places that I've ever had the misfortune to visit. I visited this store on 06 July 2020. This was 3 to 4 days AFTER the Governor of Texas had issued a 'face covering' order amid the CoVID-19 pandemic. There were people, including employees all over the store with no face covering. Let me say here that I am not necessarily in favor of wearing face coverings; however, the state has issued that mandate and I am attempting to comply. I asked to speak to a manager and a female who claimed to be an assistant manager asked if she could assist. I told her my issue and she initially said 'that she had not seen this.' I pointed to two young men who were checking out at the self-checkout who both had masks hanging around their ears, but were not using them to cover their face. The manager's response was 'oh.' And she walked away. I assumed that she planned to return, but she did not do so. I finally decided to leave the store and call Walmart's headquarters. As I approached the exit door, this manager was in the foyer speaking to some other employees who were there. She actually told them to remind people to wear a mask, but if people refused the employees were to allow entry.I telephoned Walmart's corporate office and things worsened. The millenial who answered the phone informed me that Walmart could not enforce the governor's order. I told her that they most certainly could enforce the order in that they were to deny entry to anyone who was not wearing a face covering in compliance with the order. The millenial became silent and would not utter another word.I filed a complaint with the Governor's office and today, I noticed that the Greenville, TX store (only a few miles away) seems to be taking the mask order very seriously. They also appear to be tracking the number of people in the store and managing those numbers to a lower capacity. I have not yet returned to the Commerce store, but perhaps I will find that they are also being a bit more serious about this.WALMART YOU ARE NOT ABOVE THE LAWS OF THE JURISDICTION IN WHICH YOU DO BUSINESS!
