Stamford Police Department

If I could give it a zero I would. I wrecked and totaled my car in Haskell just north of this town around midnight. Had county sheriff's out there immediately to help me and even gave me a ride to the county line into Stamford to get to my rental car in Abilene and told me he would call dispatch in Jones county that I needed help. Once getting into Stamford and eating I walked towards the police office carrying my bags and an extremely nice gentleman pulled over and gave me a ride to the police department. I got no answer after ringing the bell until an officer pulled up. According to the officer the only sheriff in the whole county was busy and could not help, and was not willing to have officers in his town help me and suggested I walk to the highway with my bags and start hitch hiking. a LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER, someone who were pay our tax money to protect and serve all law abiding citizens telling me he was not willing to help or let me wait at the station for help and told me to hitchhike 40 miles in the middle of August. I hope I never need help or need to stop in this town again and hope I can find a way to avoid it entirely now. So much for serve and protect.

With all the hate on police these days I want to give a huge THANK YOU to the town of Stamford police. My 18 year old daughter broke down on her way back to Texas Tech and the good police in your town are helping us out. There are still great people out there in this world. You just have to look hard to find them. Thanks again to the police.
